So, there are many people out there and if you would like to be friend with most of them [because if everyone likes you you are doing something wrong] you should stuck to some rools. Picturewise: Here they are!
The pictures on the blog, the picture disclosure and how to pick the perfect picture to your blogpost.
Don’t steal pictures
Just please, don’t. I am not saying don’t use other pictures but unless you find them in a free database disclose them. Sometimes it is still worth to buy them, like here, or here.. just, don’t steal.
As I said before, disclose them. Use the copyright, pay for them, or at least link the side you found them in. Everyone will be happy, world pease. Solved.
My own pictures?
Now here is the thing. You take nice picture, spend [sometime few hours] edditing it and use them on your site and find them a week later in someone elses post too? No linking to your site, no credits.
I hadn’t used to do it until I found a picture of my dog posted by someone random in a random Facebook group with in a irrelevant context. I know we are in the years when everything’s online and nothing that’s online is private but still. I didn’t enjoy that moment. Now, I hate comparing dogs to kids [mostly because dogs are less noisy, fluffier, more coudely and just generaly better! .. kidding. But seriously.] But how would you feel if you find a picture of your child like this?
So yep. I do put the name of my blog or at least the funny c in the circle sign. I have been doing it and I will be.
The secret blogger picture code
If you don’t have time/whatever else to create your own pictures, feel free to share the stuff of the others.
Share: means copy it with the disclosure, keep copyright and link the original page.
And one more thing
Don’t upload big pictures, it’s realy slowing down your page
My lesson learnt
And don’t try to publish pictures straight from your phone. The quality might be misserable and readers don’t need much to decide when it comes to following you. Espeially then it is about the first impression, you realy don’t want to risk messing it up!
Happy blogging and social networking! Mel
